Finding an SUV that has the space and power you need, but without giving up a decent fuel efficiency, can be extremely difficult. Thankfully, the 2018 Mazda CX-9 is more than capable of stepping up to the plate. We demonstrate this vehicles capability by comparing it to one of its competing SUVs; the 2018 GMC Acadia.
In order to do so, we’ve taken some specs and features that just might sound familiar; space, power, and fuel efficiency. These are commonly looked at when car shoppers are deciding between their vehicles. These vehicles are compared by their lowest trim. That means that we’ll be taking information from the 2018 Mazda CX-9 Sport with the 2.5L 4cyl Turbo engine. It is compared to the 2018 GMC Acadia SL with the 2.5L 4cyl engine. Now, let’s take a look at how the Mazda CX-9 holds up against the Acadia.
Advantages of the 2018 Mazda CX-9
When it comes to power, the 2018 Mazda CX-9 outstrips the 2018 GMC Acadia. Not to say that the Acadia doesn’t have a respectable amount of power; it does. However, the Mazda CX-9 does have more when it comes to both horsepower and torque.
While you might expect the Mazda CX-9 to lack in fuel efficiency due to its power, it still has healthy EPA-estimated 22 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway. Again, this is compared to the Acadia, and again, the Mazda CX-9 has just a bit more.
This is rounded off with the cargo space available in each model. The Acadia has a decent 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space, while the Mazda CX-9 has 14.4 cu. ft.
